Elves, giants, nymphs, druids, haunted castles, enchanted forests and sea monsters. Great Britain often sounds like right out of an old storybook. On the island you can dive into many stories and myths.
Here are my favourite three mystical places in the Kingdom:
Guess what - you probably won´t see Nessie. I didn´t. But to cheer you up you can take a boat ride on the lake or visit Urquhart castle for the mystic feeling. Altogether a wonderful area to relax and forget time. Even if I don´t believe in sea monsters I caught myself staring firmly at the water, just in case.
Up to two hours away from London you reach famous Stonehenge. On my bucket list ever since. When I went in 2010 you weren’t allowed to come close anymore because of some stupid people painting the rocks...grrr. Nevertheless that doesn´t stop Stonehenge of being magical and worth visiting.
A site I didn´t know before my trip but definitely my favourite of all. The giant´s causeway lies directly at the sea and looks like so not of this world. The area consists of hexagonal basalt columns formed due to volcanic activity. You can step around the mountains of interlocking columns many up to 10 meters high and watch them disappearing into the sea.
