a few ideas on where to be and what to see...


Bourges

+ take a walk in the park around the cathedral

 

+ feel like a witch in the city center with its 15th century timbered houses

 

+ eat snails (if you dare)


Cremieu

+ see the medieval town center

 

+ if your french isn´t perfect don´t talk to the grumpy woman in the local bakery


Grenoble

 

+ snatch or buy some walnuts of Grenoble

 

+ don´t get caught if you choose the first way

 

+ buy wine directly from the producer

 

+ buy cheese and a baguette, open up the bottle of wine and the nuts - feel french


Gorges de l´Ardèche & Pont´Arc

+ have a look at the milkyway in the mindblowing clear night sky

 

+ visit the "Caverne du Pont d´Arc" a reconstruction of the "Chauvet Cave" where the "first artists" left their paintings and engravings in the cave around 30.000 years ago

+ try to convince yourself that it is not a reproduction

 

+ spend the day bathing beneath "Pont d´Arc"


Orange

+ see the Roman Theatre and the "Arc de Triomphe" in the town center

 

+ have a walk in the hills behind the theatre and get a free glimps at its interior

 

+ relax with a coffee in a street café


Pont du gard

+ do a pic-nic or a canoe tour underneath the aqueduct or simply contemplate it for a while


Arles

+ admire the soft light of Arles

 

+ search for street art in the suburbs

 

+ visit the Amphitheater and the roman ruins in the city center


Avignon

+ have a walk around the ancient palace of the pope

 

+ speculate, standing on the bridge of Avignon, if half a bridge should still be named a bridge??

 

+ buy macarons



Marseille

+ buy soap in Marseille

 

+ take funny pictures of the reflections at the bus station in the old harbour

 

+ join a walking tour in the "Parc National des Calanques"

 

+ buy me the Starbucks mug "Maseille" I missed out on


Aigues Mortes & Parc Natural Camarage

+ come for the festival of town in October and see how a bull runs freely through the city center only flanked by three horse riders

 

+ see the huge salinas in front of  the gates of the city

 

+ make an afternoon trip to "Le Grau du Roi"
